The initial touches of brick though a substantial ruby core remains. A fully mature nose that reveals vestiges of sous-bois, spice, earth and secondary fruit aromas introduce round and nicely rich middle weight flavors that offers better depth and length than the vast majority of 94s at this point in their evolution and there is only a touch of backend astringency, which is again rare for the vintage. While by no means a great example of this storied wine, it's a clear success for what was a very difficult vintage. - Allen Meadows
