ready-improve2020 Chablis, La Forêt, 1er Cru, Domaine Pinson Frères

Planted in 1955, these are the domaine’s oldest vines. They’re used for massal selection to plant new parcels; they never suffer from disease. The limestone-rich soil dries quickly. The nose has some marine reduction, the palate offering tension and some rich lemon fruit. This is grippy, textural and with a lingering, iodine finish. It’s intensely mineral. Drink 2024-2034.
