2009 Sagrantino di Montefalco, Colleallodole, Fattoria di Antano
Product: 93313B
Description
This wine is born of the estate’s finest, oldest vines, produced in tiny quantities (1,500 bottles) and named in homage to the heights that the local skylark climbs. There’s more alcohol than in the “normal” Sagrantino, but the Colleallodole vineyard also brings with it more lift, more verve and a more precise, crunchier raspberry dimension that speaks of either older vines or a superior site, or both. Alas, I can’t reveal more as Francesco is loathe to show visitors the vineyard, lest word gets out! If Francesco’s Sagrantino di Montefalco echoes Châteauneuf, then this is his Hermitage. Emphatic, a wine for the cellar.
