2019 St Véran, La Côte-Rotie, Olivier Merlin
Description
The 2019 Saint-Véran Côte-Rôtie comes from 1.2-hectares on limestone soils in the upper part of the lieu-dit that abuts Pouilly-Fuissé Sur La Roche. The bouquet is the most mineral-driven of Merlin’s four Saint-Vérans, crushed stones, Granny Smith apples and a touch of orange pith. The palate is very well balanced with touches of white truffle and orange zest and is concentrated with fine salinity on the finish. Excellent. Drink 2022-2040
92/100 Neal Martin, Vinous
From a 1.2-hectare parcel that touches Pouilly-Fuissé La Roche, Merlin's 2019 Saint-Véran La Côte-Rotie mingles aromas of pear and orange with hints of nutmeg and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, rich and enveloping, it's round and succulent, with a fleshy core of fruit.
