2011 Ch. Duhart-Milon, Pauillac
Product: 2011-0750-00-8124517
Description
It’s never a pleasurable experience tasting at Ch. Lafite Rothschild, although it really should be and maybe that’s what made the group struggle with the Grand Vin and Carruades this year. Having said that, Duhart lit up the room this year. Far more precise, compelling and attractive than any year I can recall. It has real sophistication and purity. I rated it higher than Lafite on the day, but will give the benefit of the doubt that the Grand Vin will shine one day.

At this stage of its maturation Duhart Milon is often quite hard to taste, but this year we felt it was more open than usual. The bouquet has an earthy, licorice note but this is not unattractive as it is well complemented by aromas of black cherry. The palate is quite dense, with ample tannins and excellent persistence, and the wine has a very pleasing sense of balance and harmony.
