No.3 London Dry Gin (Miniature)
No.3 is the London Dry Gin distilled to a proprietary recipe of Berry Bros. & Rudd, London’s oldest wine and spirit merchant. The name No.3 refers to the address in St James’s Street, London: our home since 1698. No.3 was created to be the last word in gin for a Dry Martini. 'A Taste of Tradition':
With juniper at its heart, it unashamedly celebrates the integrity and character of traditional London Dry Gin: three fruits and three spices distilled in traditional copper pot stills.
The nose is bright, crisp and fresh with an uplifting welcome of juniper. The palate: Juniper to the fore, supported by floral notes and spicy, warm cardamom. Plenty of citrus ‘zing’ complemented by the gingery spiciness of coriander. The earthy dryness of angelica kicks in on the finish.

Prosecco, Treviso, Brut Spumante, Masottina
Located in Prosecco’s Conegliano region of the Veneto lie the 60 hectares of Masottina’s vineyards. Owned by the Dal Bianco family since 1946, they switched from being a négociant to vineyard owner in the 1960s. They produce a classic expression of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco. With fine, persistent bubbles, this is pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is intense, fruity with the rich scent of apple, lemon and grapefruit. It has a pronounced aroma of wisteria in bloom and acacia flowers. The palate has a pleasant acidity and fresh flavour. Full-bodied, and lingering, a soft finish rounds off this crowd-pleasing Prosecco.
A deliciously dry style. Masottina Prosecco Brut was judged No.1 Sparkling Wine from over 600 entries from 20 countries at the 16th annual Effervescents Du Monde 2018 held in Dijon, France. This comes on top of a 96 point Gold Medal score at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2017 so we're obviously well and truly into the seriously good territory here.

2009 Champagne Thiénot Brut Vintage
Only in the very best years, Thiénot releases a “Brut Vintage” Champagne, which is a subtle harmony of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wine reveals white fruit and floral aromas on the nose, developing into sweet pastry notes. The wine is extraordinarily lively on the palate underpinned by stewed fruit notes.
"An attractive sense of freshness and purity with white peaches and lemons and youthful, primary characters and dried flowers. The palate has a very succulent and fleshy feel with white peaches, pears and apples, delivered in such expressive, delicious mode. Very long, fruit-drenched finish. Drink or hold. No Stone Unturned pays homage to Afferbeck Lauder's 1960's seminal treatises on Australian pronunciation. Lets Stalk Strine and Nose Tone Unturned. The wine showcases the success of the honeyed exotic Semillion married with the citrus lift of the Chardonnay. Undeniably this is African Grey Twine.

2019 Berry Bros. & Rudd Chilean Sauvignon Blanc by De Martino
Made once again by the brilliant De Martino, our Own Selection Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is bright, fresh and zippy. The 2019 has aromas of green apples accompanied by an invigorating sea-breeze character. The palate displays light tropical hints of green melon and passion fruit, balanced out by a refreshing note of tart greengage. This wine is more textured than the previous vintage, but also incredibly mineral, with a wonderful saline edge to the fresh, fruit salad finish.

2018 Bourgogne Aligoté, Vielles Vignes, Domaine Bruno Clavelier
From 85-year-old vines; a high proportion of old selection of golden aligoté contributes a richness and power to this wine, leaving a mineral finish. It is great young—as is typical of the variety—displaying notes of citrus and exotic fruits, but with a few years it evolves more complex aromas of stone fruit and flowers. A year of aging in vats helps to preserve the freshness of the fruit.

2017 Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine de Montille
Provenance is everything. This is from a section of the Chalumeaux Premier Cru vineyard which had to be declassified in 1975 when the previous owner illegally imported some fertile topsoil. Time has healed much of the damage and there isn’t another hillside Puligny vineyard classified as village. Parcels from Levron and Baudrières-Nosroy complete the blend. A fine, generous and complex style. Drink 2022-2029.

2016 Barbera d'Alba, Scudetto, Giuseppe Mascarello
The 2016 Barbera d'Alba Scudetto is full of cherry, full of dark chocolate and just full in general. The Mascarello family timidly discusses this vintage during my visit to the winery the way parents of doctors and lawyers talk about their other son, the struggling actor. This dark and thick Barbera may not have the finesse or complexity of other vintages, but those who like their reds big, bold and fruity certainly will appreciate it.

2018 Bourgogne Rouge, Benjamin Leroux
This is a splendid potpourri of different sites mostly across the Hautes Côtes and Côte de Beaune, with generic vineyards and village wines from Pommard, Meursault, St Romain and Monthélie, Dames Huguettes in the hills and even some from Vosne-Romanée (Croix Blanches) all contributing. As always, this is the best foot forward in terms of value and quality. Heady and juicy in 2018. Drink now to 2024.

2014 Qupe, Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard
This vineyard block just keeps getting better with age. It is rich without being heavy, and with moderate alcohol, has great balance for aging. Aged 2 years in barrel and 2 years in bottle so it shows well on the release. It is deeply colored with well integrated flavors of blueberries, cola and hints of black pepper. If you do keep it in a cellar, you could put this away for another 10-15 years (until 2029)!

Inside Burgundy, by Jasper Morris MW (1st edition)
Winner of the André Simon Award for the best wine book in 2010. Jasper Morris MW has lived, breathed, bought and sold Burgundy since 1981. He has a home there, he makes his living there. He has built up over 30 years the kind of exact, on-the-ground knowledge that only someone based in the region can acquire.
His is the knowledge built up year after year from visits to and conversations in producers' cellars both grand and humble, from walking through their vineyards observing the minutiae of viticulture, from studying the weather, the development of vintages in cask and bottle, the changing patterns of family and ownership.
The book, in 656 pages, covers one thousand specific vineyards, from grands crus to obscure plots. Each is described and assessed, and the makers of its wines introduced and appraised. We learn why the top half of a certain vineyard inevitably makes wine of more character than the down-slope portion, how subtle choices in the vineyard, the cellar, even the cooperage make such differences to the quality of the final wine.

2017 Barbera d'Alba, Francia, Giacomo Conterno, Piedmont
Compared to the expression from the Cerretta vineyard, the 2017 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Francia is even darker in color with more austerity and muscle power at the back. The alcohol reading of the two wines is the same (15.5%), but this expression offers less obvious fruit and more dark mineral instead. The soils in the Francia vineyard see a mix of limestone sand and clay, and this is true of where both the Barbera and the Nebbiolo vines are located. You sense an increased mineral presence in the Francia with iron, salt and scorched earth. This full-throttle Barbera is penetrating and deep. This is a fine expression of the grape, offering exacting detail and precision. 2020-2038. - Wine Advocate

2020 Berry Bros. & Rudd Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon by De Martino, Maipo Valley
We love how De Martino craft their Cabernet Sauvignon and we are extremely proud to partner with them again on this wine. Our 2020 vintage has a wonderful freshness about it which makes it extremely attractive to drink. Blueberries and damsons mingle on the nose and the palate is vibrant, exuding a juicy richness of mouthcoating fruit. A classically Bordelais note of gravel comes through, adding definition. This would be a perfect Sunday roast wine.

2017 Meursault, Les Narvaux, Dominique Lafon
This is one of Dominique’s favourites, a vineyard which he says always makes great wines. The nose has a lifted, floral character and some stony reduction. On the front of the palate there is a richness to the peach and citrus fruit, which tightens up into a smoky, toasty and precise finish. Drink 2022-2028.
After the famine of 2016, this year is something of a feast, at least in the case of the reds. Sadly, the whites, which Dominique praises as having excellent clarity, are in slightly smaller volumes than 2016. The good news is that the full range of red wines has been made, and in good volume too. Dominique is effusive in his praise for the 2017 reds, describing them as appealing, with beautiful balance, a lightness of touch, refined tannins and a floral character with stunning red fruit.{***}{region}Meursault{region} {color}White{color}

2017 Meursault, Les Chevalières, Domaine Boisson-Vadot
Domaine Boisson-Vadot, run by father and son team of Bernard and Pierre Boisson, is one of the rising stars in Mersault. The philosophy of the Domaine revolves around careful, hands-on vineyard management to coax the greatest potential of each vintage out of the various plots, and low-impact winemaking in the cellars that allows the unique terroir of each vineyard to surface. New oak is very minimal, no more than 30% for the top cuvées, and much more restraint in the village wines and in Bourgogne Blanc.
Pierre Boisson produces a village Meursault from his grandmother’s vineyards (50 year old vines in the lieu-dits of Criots and Perchots) that is hailed an model wine for the appellation. The Domaine also crafts other bottlings, from three of the best lieux à dits in Meursault: Sous la Velle , Grands Charrons (planted in 1988) and Chevalières (planted in 1982). The Chevalières is the most mineral-driven, with a more restraint fruit flavours in its youth but great ageing potential- More like premier crus than village wines.{***}{region}Meursault{region} {color}White{color}
