Domaine Bruno Clavelier Mixed Case of Twelve
Each case contain six bottles each of:
2018 Bourgogne Passetoutgrain, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Bruno Clavelier, Burgundy
In Bottle. Two plots, one all pinot from 1926, the other more pinot than Gamay 70 year old. 65% stems in the first plot, 100% in the second, with gamay finally being no more than 10% of the total. Brilliantly perfumed, with the gamay still making its presence felt on the nose in angular fashion, with pink raspberry fruit on the palate and significant length. An excellent example. Tasted: November 2019. 87/100 4* Star Jasper Morris, Inside BurgundyFrom 80 to 90 year old vines with <10% gamay. There is plenty of freshly turned, and pungent, earth character on the somewhat gamy aromas of wild red and dark berries. The earth continues onto the solidly voluminous and rich middle weight flavors that possess very good punch while exhibiting excellent depth and persistence for the genre on the rustic finale. What is all the more impressive is that this wine should have no trouble aging well too if that's your preference. In sum, this is a very good PTG. 87/100 Outstanding Top value Allen Meadows, Burghound
2019 Bourgogne Aligoté, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Bruno Clavelier, Burgundy
From 95+ year old vines where most of the fruit is from Aligoté Doré and is vinified and raised in stainless steel.Bright and ripe aromas include those of apple, citrus and various spice elements. The delicious and attractively vibrant middle weight flavors conclude in an impressively complex, lingering and highly refreshing finish. This is an unusually good example of the genre and enthusiastically recommended. 88/100 Outstanding Top value Allen Meadows, Burghound
In bottle. This comes from Aligoté d’oré vines planted in 1926 and yielding just 25 hl/ha. Given that, this is not going to be a nervy Aligoté to be sure. But it is a beautiful wine with its pretty pale colour, and graciously perfumed bouquet. There is excellent acidity at the back and a concentration of fresh fruit for the finish. Tasted: November 2019. 87/100 4* Star Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

2012 Champagne R&L Legras, St. Vincent
The Cuvees St Vincent, using their best wines from old vines plot aged with lees for 10 years before being released, stand easily the test of time and get better with age. The outstanding 2012 vintage Champagne has a promising and pleasant color with twinkling little reflections. A generous mousse with fine bubbles. On the nose the wine expresses a gourmet and powerful personality with buttered notes of hot brioche and an exceptional freshness due to Chardonnay. It offers a gustative aromatic richness, some complexity and a great balance – which reflect an exceptional cuvee. On the palate, the wine is sublimated by notes of pineapple flambe which give a very pleasant feeling of warmth. 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay, 4gr/L dosage.

2019 Berry Bros. & Rudd Mosel Riesling Kabinett by Selbach-Oster
This delectable Riesling is one of the most thirst-quenching wines that you could ever wish to taste. Made for us by the brilliant Johannes Selbach, it has fresh green apple and apricot aromas, lifted by the scent of meadow wildflowers. The flavours are invigorating, with bright apple freshness persisting alongside more tropical notes of kaffir lime leaves and a twist of white pepper. There’s a hint of sweetness on the otherwise palate-cleansing finish, making this a perfect match for Vietnamese dishes or a Gorgonzola salad.

2021 Berry Bros. & Rudd Gavi di Gavi by Roberto Sarotto, Piedmont
Our Own Selection Gavi is made for us by the Sarotto family in the Comune di Gavi. The 2021 vintage particularly suited the fresh Cortese grape, grown here on mineral-rich white soils. This is delicate and finessed, with bright aromas of spring flowers, lemon peel and peach and a refreshingly mineral finish. Complex and energetic, this is a quintessential Northern Italian white. Enjoy it with seafood or asparagus dishes. Drink 2022-2026.

2019 St Véran, La Côte-Rotie, Olivier Merlin
This is a much bigger cuvée, yielding around thirty barrels; it’s a site Olivier knows well. As the name suggests, this is a well-exposed slope, but there’s plenty of limestone and the rootstock is late ripening. There’s some orange blossom and mandarin here, with serious acidity and a grippy, textural finish. Drink 2023-2029.

2018 St Aubin, Sur le Sentier du Clou, 1er Cru, Domaine Joseph Colin
A deft application of wood sets off airy and cool aromas that include those of citrus, pear and a whiff of mineral reduction. There is more volume if perhaps not quite the same electricity to the medium-bodied flavors that possess better mid-palate flesh, all wrapped in a clean, dry and citrusy finale. This would benefit from having more depth, but it may well develop if allowed 3 to 5 years of cellaring. ( Burghound)

2010 Volnay, Les Taillepieds, 1er Cru, Domaine de Montille
Vinification with the stems gives these wines a notable character on the nose, with floral, spice and rose petals all coming to the fore, and an impressive density on the palate. This is a very graceful wine, and the finish shows a touch of tannin to maintain structure.
Jasper Morris MWDomaine de Montille picked between the 18th and 26th September in 2010. The red wines, made by American Brian Sieve (one of two winemakers in this catalogue born in Indianapolis!) under the surveillance of Etienne de Montille, now show a consistency of style and quality that perhaps was not entirely there a few years ago. The whites are the responsibility of Etienne’s sister Alix and maintain the class of recent times. Together they have produced a fine result in 2010.

2019 Langhe Nebbiolo, Lasarin, Marcarini, Piedmont
This is from young vines in La Morra and Neviglie. Again, there’s the remarkable Lapsang note, but it’s subtler here. There’s maraschino cherry and firm tannin, all resolved on the finish by understated intensity. This is not a “mini-Barolo”: the wine has seen no wood at all. The freshness of the vintage and the energy of Neviglie triumph. Drink 2022-2028.

2018 Vosne-Romanée, Les Hautes Maizières, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Bruno Clavelier
This old vines cuvée comes from a tiny parcel of vines nearly 79 years in age that were planted by Massale Selection. The sub-soil here is chalk but there's limestone and clay up above. This is a structured red Burgundy that's powerful and will benefit from age. The majority of the domaine's vines are old vines (Massale) planted in the 1930s and 40s. Naturally the yields are miniscule for this reason making this wine all the more rare.

2016 Ch. Batailley, Pauillac
The 2016 Batailley has an attractive, meaty bouquet with more red fruit than black, unlike many of its peers. With aeration it appears to gain more floral notes and lift. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, linear and focused, offering pencil lead, cedar and light spicy notes toward the conservative, controlled finish. A mocha-tinged aftertaste emanates from the oak. Good potential, but it needs time. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting. Drink 2022 - 2050

2014 Baron de Brane, Margaux
The 2014 Baron de Brane displays scents of brambly red berry fruit, mocha and hints of espresso on the well-defined nose. The medium-bodied palate offers fine tannin and a straightforward, tobacco-tinged and lightly spiced finish. The most elegant Baron de Brane in recent years. Fine. 2020 The Sadie Family Eben Sadie Palladius, Swartland
No fewer than 17 parcels and 11 varieties (for now) contribute to the blend of this impressive white. Palomino, Chenin Blanc and Grenache Blanc are the dominant grapes in a wine that nods towards the southern Rhône and Spain. Less exotic than it was, Palladius is tauter and more focused these days, with freshness and zip form Clairette Blanche, Colombard and Verdelho, citrus, pear, lemongrass and aromatic herb notes and a tangy, wet stone finish. 2023-30.

2021 The Sadie Family Wines, Pofadder, Ouwingerdreeks, Swartland
The 2021 Pofadder is pure Cinsault with 40% whole clusters, aged in oak foudres for 12 months. It has an open and expressive nose with wild strawberry and raspberry scents, light slatey aromas and touches of orange blossom. The palate is medium-bodied and framed by finely chiselled tannins, beautifully poised, balletic even. Tender yet intense, you will not find a better Cinsault in South Africa. Drink 2022-2036
